Israel allowed Muslims to open a new entrance to an underground prayer hall at the Al-Aksa Mosque in Jerusalem, according to a spokesman for Prime Minister Ehud Barak. A rightwing Israeli legislator accused the premier of caving in to Muslim pressure, but Bark spokesman Gadi Baltiansky said the passageway is necessary for safety.
