Israel’s public information chief Moshe Perlman and his Egyptian counterpart have shown that frank talks are possible between representatives of the two countries. The two men were among a group of government radio directors and public information heads who just concluded two weeks of discussion under United Nations auspices here on the flow and freedom of information.
Mr. Perlman made no bones about-pinning down his Egyptian colleague on the strict censorship still prevailing in Egypt and questioned him on why Egypt had not opened its doors to an Israeli journalist in reciprocal action for what Israel did some weeks ago in allowing an Israeli correspondent to visit the Jewish State.
In a wider sphere, Mr. Perlman answered many questions concerning Israeli economic and political developments and opened up new channels of information for newspapermen from a number of countries who expressed keen interest in knowing more about Israel.
