Plans are nearing completion for the establishment of a new Israeli-African shipping firm operating under joint ownership of Ghana and the Zim-Israel Shipping Company, under the name “Black Star,” it was reported today.

The project is being negotiated in talks between Zim officials and members of the Ghana economic delegation now visiting Israel to discuss expansion of Israeli-Ghana trade. The project was initiated by Dr. Naphthali Wydra of Zim on a recent visit to Ghana. He was scheduled to make another trip there to discuss details of the forthcoming agreement.

The Israeli-Ghana talks also covered the possibility of Israeli investment of capital and know-how to boost Ghana diamond production. Israeli sources explained that such an increase would mean a larger quota from the London diamond syndicate for Israel diamond-finishing industry.
