Measures to prevent the unauthorized entry of civilians into no man’s land in the vicinity of Latrun were discussed today at a meeting of the Israeli-Jordan Mixed Armistice Commission.

The discussion grew out of the killing last week-end of a Jew who mistakenly wandered into the area. The Jordanian representative, who expressed regret at the “unnecessary loss of life,” reported that the man had been shot after he failed to head warning shots fired by Arab Legionnaires.

An agreement for policing the border area of the northern portion of the Negev was extended until September 1. The agreement for the southern, portion, in which a good deal of trouble has developed, has been held up pending a meeting between senior officers of both armies responsible for guarding the southern frontiers.
