Israel and Quebec signed a cooperation agreement.
The milestone agreement , signed Dec. 11 at Quebec’s National Assembly, marked the creation of a “new chapter in already warm bilateral relations between Quebec and Israel.”
The agreement is expected to create new joint venture opportunities, as well as further cooperation in the fields of technology, science, medicine and education.
It was a far cry from 2002, when Israel said it would close its consulate in Montreal, as part of a series of consulate closings due to budgetary cuts. That decision was reversed after much outcry from the Jewish community.
