Israel and the Palestinians are reportedly close to an agreement to transfer security responsibility to the Palestinian Authority in the Gaza Strip and West Bank town of Bethlehem. Senior political sources in Jerusalem were quoted by the daily Ha’aretz as saying that Israel has agreed to give the Palestinians a grace period of three to six weeks to organize after receiving security responsibility.
