Israel and the Palestinians neared an agreement Monday to end the monthlong standoff at Bethlehem’s Church of the Nativity. The deal being worked out calls for some of the Palestinian gunmen holed up in the church to go into exile in Italy. Others would be sent to the Gaza Strip, where they could be imprisoned under the watch of American and British jailers, Palestinian sources said.
