Israel announced it is suspending all further West Bank redeployments called for under the Wye agreement until the Palestinian Authority complies with a list of demands, including a promise not to declare statehood next May. The announcement came after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu urged President Clinton to object publicly to Palestinian violations of the accord. “There is a danger to the peace process if the violations continue,” the letter said, according to a Netanyahu spokesman. Clinton is scheduled to visit Israel and the Palestinian self-rule areas later this month.
