Israel apologized after troops fired on a car carrying senior Palestinian official Ahmed Karia. Karia had informed Israeli authorities of his plans to leave Ramallah and travel past an Israeli roadblock on his way home. When the car approached the position, however, reserve soldiers who didn’t recognize the car opened fire after it failed to slow down.
