A plea to retain the principles developed by the Allies during the Nuremberg trials of Nazi war criminals was made by Dr. Jacob Robinson, Israel delegate to the General Assembly’s Legal Committee. In the debate on the draft code of offenses against the peace and security of mankind, Dr. Robinson asked that the Nuremberg principles be retained for the present as the “basic source” of international criminal law.
Later today, with Israel abstaining, the committee decided to defer action on the draft code until a proposed special committee on defining aggression completes its work, in 1956.
