Israel Approves Issue of Jewish National Fund Gold Shekel

Government assent to a plan to mint a gold Shekel for sale throughout the world to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the Jewish National Fund was disclosed today by the Fund.

It announced that the commemorate coin would weigh 7.3 grams, the same weight as the English Sovereign. It will bear the words, “Gold Shekel,” and “Jerusalem, ” in English, and the name in Hebrew of the Jewish National Fund, Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael.
