Yigaal Horowitz, Israel’s Minister of Commerce, currently visiting here, addressed himself to the lopsided trade balance between his country and Argentina and heard proposals by local businessmen on means to redress the balance. Horowitz, attending a reception by the Argentine-Israel Chamber of Commerce, noted that Argentine-Israeli trade amounts to $50 million a year of which $45 million is represented by Argentine exports. Horowitz’s agenda here includes meetings with the ministers of commerce, industry and tourism.
Wolf Blumenthal, president of the Chamber of Commerce, proposed that Israel send a trade mission to Argentina composed of representatives of Israel’s electronics, metallurgic and scientific instruments industries, products that would interest the Argentine market. He also suggested the two countries set up a joint committee of representatives of government and private enterprise to increase trade. He said there was a need for an Argentine commercial attache at that country’s embassy in Tel Aviv.
