Israel submitted today a claim for $2,656,858 to the Bulgarian Government for damages and compensation resulting from the shooting down of an Israel passenger plane by Bulgarian fighters last July.
At the same time, the Government of Israel asked to be informed of the identity of those responsible for the incident and how they had been punished, as the Bulgarian Government had promised last August it would do. Included in the monetary claims are the cost of replacing the EL-AL four-engine Constellation plane, compensation for loss of freight aboard the plane and compensation to the relatives of the 58 victims aboard the plane.
