Israel has asked the UNESCO conference now in session hers to use its ?offices to persuade the Jordan Government to give the Jews access to the Hebrew University buildings on Mt. Scopus in Jerusalem, it was reported here today.
It was also reported that Israel requested UNESCO financial aid for the forthcoming “Budapest of the Desert” ambitions to be held in Jerusalem. The Jewish state was also reported to have applied to the UNESCO for equipment for its institutions of higher learning and for fellowships for Israelis engaged in post-graduate research. The Israel delegation to the UNESCO conference is led by M. Fischer, Israel Minister to France, and Prof. S. Sanbursky, Inspector of Schools, in Israel’s Ministry of Education.
