The Autocar company of Haifa, which assembles small cars from British-made engines and an Israel-made plastic body, announced today that it would soon manufacture sport cars and light pickups.
The company, which said it was expanding existing production, reported it had a $1,500,000 backlog of orders, a considerable portion of them being from abroad, including the United States. A shipment of “Sabra” station wagons made by Autocar is new on route to Los Angeles, the first shipment of these small cars to the United States. The shipment is due to arrive in about two weeks.
