Israel Bans Celebration of Egyptian National Holidays in Sinai and Gaza Strip

A ban on the celebration of Egyptian national holidays in the Gaza Strip and Sinai was issued today by the Israeli military governor of the area. The order prohibits the observance of such holidays as July 23, Egypt’s “Revolution Day;” July 26, marking nationalization of the Suez Canal; and March 19, the date of the Israeli withdrawal from Sinai in 1957 after the first Sinai campaign.
