Israel lodged a formal complaint with the Security Council today over Friday’s terrorist bombing of a Jerusalem bus in which six passengers were killed, five of them Israeli youngsters aged 12-18 and an American, aged 30. Nineteen persons were injured.
Israel’s Ambassador to the UN, Chaim Herzog, cited the role of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) in the bombing, in a letter to Security Council President Ambassador Mario R. Anaya of Bolivia. He noted that the PLO claimed responsibility for the outrage and recalled other atrocities committed by the PLO against civilians. He requested that his letter be circulated as an official document of the Security Council.
