Leaders of 90 major communities in the United States were linked by telephone conference today with headquarters of the Israel Bond Organization where they were addressed by Henry Morgenthau, chairman of the International Committee for Israel Bonds, Joseph Saphir, Israel Minister of Communications, and Henry Montor executive officer of the bond organization.
The telephone conference marked official inauguration of the bond drive and celebrated the sixth anniversary of Israel’s independence. Mr. Morgenthau explained to the bond leaders the great need for funds in Israel, while Mr. Saphir reported in detail how the funds derived from earlier bond sales had been put to use in Israel.
