Plans for the decisive phase of the 1954 Israel Development bond campaign to raise $75,000,000 for the economic development of the State of Israel will be formulated at a National Leadership Conference of the Israel Bond Organization to be held here September 11 and 12, it was announced today by Samuel Rothberg, national chairman of the bond drive.
Among the principal speakers at the Conference will be Israel Ambassador Abba Eban, who is returning to the United States early in September after consultations with his Government in Jerusalem, Mr. Rothberg reported. Key Jewish communal leaders, including members of the Bord of Governors of the bond organization and community bond chairmen, will participate in the parley, Mr. Rothberg indicated.
Reports on Israel’s economic progress, and on the role of Israel Bonds in stimulating Israel’s agricultural and industrial growth, will be presented to the Conference by two delegations of American Jewish leaders, who are now touring Israel. The Conference will review achievements of the Israel Bond campaign during the first half of 1954, studying results not only in the United States, but in Canada, Latin America and Western Europe, where the sale of Israe Bonds is now getting underway.
