The Israel Government directly accused Jordan’s King Hussein today of freeing avowed assassins and giving encouragement to anti-Israel sentiment in-Jordan. The charges have been sent to Maj. Gen. E. L. M. Burns, United Nations truce chief.
A Foreign Ministry spokesman charged that the murderers of three Israeli Druze guards at an oil drilling camp in the Negev had been apprehended by the Jordan police. The murderers, the Israeli authorities have learned, were found in possession of guns stolen from their victims. They also confessed to the Jordan police. A few days ago, the Foreign Ministry spokesman continued, the King himself issued an order to free the murderers without trial or punishment.
The facts as learned by the Israelis have been submitted to Gen. Burns in a letter. “This order,” the Israeli letter to Gen. Burns said, “given by the King himself is a direct encouragement by the highest authority in Jordan to the continuation of Jordanian aggression against Israel.”
An investigation of the murder yesterday of two Israeli workers in an orange grove near Neve Hadassah, on the outskirts of Nathanya, has revealed that three infiltrators returned to Jordan after killing the Jews, a Foreign Ministry spokesman said today.
