Israel was buffeted again today by snow storms and sub zero temperatures which brought widespread transportation difficulties but failed to prevent a group of Egyptians from infiltrating into Israel from the Gaza strip.
A military spokesman said that an Israel patrol intercepted the Egyptians last night and chased them. During the chase, in which gunfire was exchanged, the Israel patrol noticed three men who, when challenged, identified themselves as members of a United Nations Emergency Force patrol. The Israel soldiers continued their chase of the infiltrators while the UNEF soldiers continued to patrol.
Fighting the winds and snow. Israel police vans rescued passengers from stranded vehicles and isolated homes In the warmer Negev, many dry stream beds were filled and roads cut by melting snow. Two soldiers hurt in a traffic accident in the area were taken to the hospital after being rescued by a helicopter called in when it was found impossible to reach the soldiers by any road vehicle.
