The sixth day of a crippling bus strike through the country found normal business activities hampered and mounting irritation on the part of the public. Many settlements off the main roads were virtually isolated today In the cities, the public, riding in trucks and lorries brought in to replace the strike bound buses, complained audibly.

The halting of the bus services followed the refusal of the government to grant a per cent fare increases demanded by the transport cooperative companies. When cooperatives refused the Government’s counter-offer, the Government called on the cooperatives to state their terms for nationalizing of the transport industry.
