The Agriculture Department announced authorization today for Israel to buy $1.21 million worth–about 5000 metric tons–of cottonseed and/or soybean oil, excluding oleomargarine, and $5.322 million worth–about 85.000 metric tons–of grain sorghum in bulk. The authorizations are under Public Law 480, which allows a country to buy American agricultural commodities in its own currency and sell it to its own citizens, with the proceeds used on projects in the purchasing country to which the United States government agrees.
