The Ministers’ Committee on Economic Policy recommended today that rents be increased for apartment and business premises by ratios ranging from 15 percent to 400 percent. The new rents, to affect premises now restricted as to rentals, under a law in effect since 1953, would go into effect next September 1.
The increases vary with the size of the premises, the largest boost being in respect to offices, shops and other business establishments. Furnished flats would not be affected. Government-owned premises would not be subjected to increases before April 1963.
