A plan for the dispersal of Israel’s population more evenly over the country was discussed by the Israel Cabinet.
The plan is part of an overall “four-year plan” proposed by Finance Minister Levi Eshkol for the development of agriculture, basic and light industry, sea, land and air communications and relieving the overcrowding in Israel’s urban centers. The plan will come up for decision next week.
A Cabinet spokesman announced that the government had accepted an anonymous contribution of $500,000 for the construction of a “clearing center” for Israel academies, which would concentrate the administration of Israel’s advanced educational set-up. A site of 30 dunams (seven and one-half acres) has been set aside in the center of this city for the project.
