The Israel Government today informed the United Nations that it is unable at this time to allocate troops to the Korean area because of the uncertain relations between the Jewish state and its Arab neighbors.
Replying to a query by U.N. Secretary-General Trygve Lie, Ambassador Abba Eban pointed out that the Arab states have refused to replace the armistice agreements between themselves and Israel with peace treaties and that the Arab states, led by the Arab League, are waging active economic warfare against Israel. In addition, he pointed out, political parties and organs of opinion in some of these states have referred to the possibility of resuming hostilities with Israel. When peace is restored, the Israel Government pledged, it will reconsider its decision concerning the allocation of troops.
