World Jewish Child’s Day, sponsored by the Youth Aliyah movement, was celebrated here tonight at a festive ceremony attended by more than 1,000 guests, including Israel leaders in all fields, members of the diplomatic corps and Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt, who is currently touring Israel.
Mrs. Roosevelt, who has visited a number of Youth Aliyah and Hadassah sponsored institutions for children, expressed her great satisfaction with the progress made in children’s education and welfare in Israel in the past three years since her last visit to this country. She also pointed out that the experiences of these children from so many different backgrounds living and working together for the common good is a good omen for peace possibilities among nations.
