The Israel Government charged today that in refusing to adopt a resolution condemning Egypt for numerous cross-border violations of the armistice agreement, the United Nations Security Council had displayed “disconcerting partiality.”
A spokesman for the Foreign Ministry further stressed that such discrimination against Israel was “liable to encourage further acts of hostility against her.” The Security Council has assumed “heavy responsibility” for any “baneful results” of yesterday’s action by the Council, he added, Such conduct, he asserted, will not add to the influence of the Council, which has been entrusted with implementation of the armistice agreement.
The spokesman recalled that only three weeks ago, the Council had adopted a “one-sided condemnation of Israel.” This made it all the more disconcerting when the Council failed to act after mine-laying, sabotage and murder at Patish, Nirim and Nachol Oz, he stated.
