A warning that the drafting of men into the Israel Army might cause a certain amount of disorganization in industry in the Jewish state was sounded here today by Army Chief of Staff Yigal Yadin.
The Chief of Staff appealed to industrialists to cooperate with the conscription program. “Under present circumstances, the industry and the army of the country are complementary,” he said.
Premier David Ben Gurion, speaking from Jerusalem, and Israel Postmaster General Zvi Prihar, who was in Beershoba, exchanged greetings today via the first telephone line to be hooked up between the ancient Biblical city in the Negev and the rest of Israel.
