Israel Citrus Season Ends; Export Brought $72, 500, 000 to Country

Israel’s citrus season ended today with the departure of a shipment of 7,000 cases of fruit from Haifa port bound for Austria. The shipment brought total exports of citrus for the season to 12,500,000 cases netting Israel $72,500, 000.

During the current season, Israel tested citrus sales to North America. Canada took 180,000 cases and the United States 50,000 cases. The six European Common Market countries had absorbed a larger quantity of Israeli fruits than during the previous year. This fact made the problem of tariffs even more acute and vital to Israel than it would be otherwise
