Work on the last drainage channel in the area south of Lake Huleh was ended today and water from flooded marshland in the area is again being diverted into the main channel of Lake Huleh.
Tension subsided in the area for the first time in several weeks. Syrian farmers and shepherds were seen at work on the opposite slope of the valley. At least one Israeli died and a number were wounded as a result of Syrian attempts to interfere with the canal digging. Syrian casualties are unknown in the two-day tank and artillery duel last week.
