Official circles here today elaborated on the detaile of the military service bill passed by the Parliament last night. The bill provides for the drafting of men and women for two years for both military and agricultural training.
Recruits assigned to the Navy may be exempted from agricultural service, at the discretion of the Defense Ministry. The Ministry will also establish, by regulation, which branches of farming may be designated for agricultural training purposes as provided in the bill. At any time up to Oct, 1, 1951, the Ministry may also suspend agricultural training and assign recruits to two years of direct military training.
Members of agricultural settlements will not be exampted from agricultural duty during their period of service, but candidates for commissions may be exempted if they serve two full years in direct military service.
