A $5,000 contribution from Israel to aid in the repatriation of refugees from Algeria was handed today to Felix Schnyder, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
The presentation was made by Moshe Bartur, Israel’s permanent representative at Geneva. The contribution was made in response to the High Commissioner’s appeals for urgently needed funds and temporary housing for such refugees who are now in Morocco and Tunisia. The High Commissioner expressed deep appreciation for the contribution which will enable his office to acquire more than 100 family-sized tents for the refugees.
