Israel’s refusal to permit KLM charter flights to land at Lydda Airport was sharply criticized in the Dutch Parliament yesterday. Henrik Por, a member of the Democratic Socialist 1970 Party, remarked that “Israel makes an extremely unsympathetic impression” in this matter and asked the Secretary General of the Dutch Communications Ministry to “protest strongly” to the Israeli civil aviation authorities.
Dutch tourists booked on KLM charter flights to Israel are now being transferred by plane or train to Zurich or Paris where they board Swiss air or Air France planes to Israel.
