Defense Minister Pinchas Lavon resigned today, an official communique announced here.
The communique revealed that Mr. Lavon had tendered his resignation Feb. 2, but that discussions had been held between Mr. Lavon and Premier Moshe Sharett from that date until today when Mr. Lavon informed the Fremier that his decision was final. The reasons for his action will be placed before the Parliamentary Foreign Affairs and Security Committee, the announcement concluded.
