The rehabilitation department of the Israel Defense Ministry, which has cared for the welfare needs of Israel’s veterans, will close down April 1, it was officially announced here today by Yosef Gurion, head of the bureau.
He revealed to newsmen that in the last two years his department has allocated 8,000,000 pounds ($22,400,000) for assistance to the families of veterans and soldiers who died in the war of liberation. A total of 1,500,000 pounds was spent for the rehabilitation of 6,500 disabled veterans, all except some 350 of whom are now employable. A total of 77,000 cases were handled by the bureau.
