The Israel Government denied today a report in the American press that Israel was prepared to concede most of the remaining difference between its and the Arab states claims for water from the proposed “Jordan Valley Authority” plan.
A spokesman for the Foreign Ministry said that an Israel delegation which discussed the Eric Johnston plan for regional development of the Jordan had confined its comments to technical aspects of the program. There were no decisions or conclusions reached on the principal issue and “there is no room for a statement of Israel having waived any rights ” the spokesman said.
The American report also said that Ambassador Johnston was preparing to return to the Middle East early next month with good prospects of reaching final agreement with the parties.
