An Israel Army spokesman denied this week-end allegations by the Egyptians last week that an Israeli fighter was downed in an encounter between Israeli and Egyptian jets over the Negev. No Israeli plane was hit by any Egyptian bullets, the spokesman said.
The air battle lasted but a few moments last Thursday when an Israeli patrol spotted four Egyptian Migs in formation over Israeli territory 20 miles from Beersheba. All four MIGs fled.
