An Israel army spokesman denied today a Jordanian assertion that two Israelis were killed in an exchange of fire in the “triangle” area of central Palestine.
The incident occurred Friday when an Israeli patrol on Israeli territory near Metzer was fired upon by Jordanian positions across the line. The Israelis replied with sharp fire and the Jordanians were silenced. The Israelis suffered no casualties.
In a similar situation yesterday, Syrian patrols fired on Israeli soldiers near Mishmar Hayarden. The Israelis silenced the Syrians, again without suffering any casualties.
