Israel Minister of Education Prof. Ben Zion Dinaberg favors the naming of Dr. Joseph J. Schwartz, executive vice-chairman of the United Jewish Appeal, as president of the Hebrew University to succeed Prof. Selig Brodetsky, it was reported in the local press today.
The reports also stated that government circles oppose Prof. Dinaburg’s proposal because they feel that Dr. Schwartz is needed much more in his present post as executive head of the United Jewish Appeal in whose success the Jewish State is deeply interested.
