Israel’s aviation industry was represented at the International Aeronautics and Space exhibition that opened here today. According to Col. Eliezer Lif, military attache of the Israel Embassy, the two small Israel-made aircraft on display indicated Israel’s capabilities in the aviation field and opened Latin American markets to Israeli planes. He said the display had aroused considerable interest in Argentinean aeronautical circles.
Israel’s Labor Minister Yosef Almogi paid an unscheduled visit to the pavilion shortly before his departure for New York. At a press conference earlier, he noted that Israel’s agriculture was among the best in the world but said his country’s industrial development needed to be accelerated but lacked raw materials. “There is no reason why we cannot produce the best of small airplanes,” he said. Mr. Almogi also disclosed that 10,000 Arabs from the occupied territories were working in Israel at the same wages and conditions that applied to Israeli citizens. Moshe Yehuda, commercial counsellor at the Israel Embassy, said his country was trying to balance its negative trade exchange with Argentina. He said Israel hoped to export electronic and medical equipment to this country.
