With the Security Council scheduled to reconvene on Syria’s anti-Israel complaint next week–probably Tuesday, although the session may be deferred until Wednesday–Israel’s acting chief of delegation here, Mordecai R. Kidron, conferred today with the head of the Soviet delegation and with the United Nations Secretary General. The talk with the Soviet representative, A.A. Sobolev was held at the U. S. S. R. delegation’s headquarters and was “very cordial,” Mr. Kidron said.
Mr. Kidron’s conference with Secretary General Dag Hammarskjold here covered “a number of general matters,” including not only the Lake Tiberias incident, but also Mr. Hammarskjold’s forthcoming trip to the Middle East, during which he will visit Israel, as well as the capitals of the principal neighboring Arab states. Both conferences were held at Mr. Kidron’s request. Mr. Hammarskjold’s itinerary, as it stands now, sets his visit to Israel for January 24 and 25.
