Israel Ambassador Abba Eban left by plane today for Israel to participate in what has been described by Israel diplomatic sources as a “routine consultation” with Israel Government authorities.
Eliahu Elath, Israel Ambassador to Britain left London yesterday for Israel after meeting with Evelyn Shuckburgh, head of the British Foreign Office Middle Eastern Division Yacov Tzur. Israel Ambassador to France, will also participate in the Jerusalem consultations.
Mr Eban met recently with George V. Allen, Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, for an expensive review of current problems. Government sources indicated the meeting pertained largely to the present status of the Eric Johnston plan for regional water-sharing but other topics were reviewed as well.
Two Israel water experts who have for the last several weeks discussed aspects of the Johnston irrigation plan with American authorities will return this week to Israel, Their return indicates that the technical phase of the discussion has reached a conclusion here but that diplomatic discussions of the plan will be continued.
