A new Information Authority to coordinate all Government information and publicity activities has been officially established under the Prime Minister’s Office, it was announced today. Harry Zinder, former director general of Israel Radio and former press counsellor of the Israel Embassy in Washington, D.C., has been named director of the new agency.
The Information Authority will coordinate the work of the Government radio, the Government Press Office, Tourist Office publicity and such public information service as lectures and publications for the local population which formerly were handled by the Ministry of Education. The Education Ministry will retain responsibility for public activities in culture and the arts.
