An indication of the importance Israel attaches to its ties with Rumania was seen today in the disclosure that Finance Minister Pinhas Sapir will lead the Israeli delegation which will go to Bucharest next month to complete an Israeli-Rumanian agreement providing for trade and other exchanges.
The provisional agreement was disclosed yesterday during the departure of a seven-man Rumanian delegation which negotiated the pact during a 10-day visit. Israel hopes the pact with Rumania, the first with an East European country, might spell a breakthrough for similar bilateral agreements with other such countries. The agreement provides for exchanges in the fields of economics, science, technology, tourism and trade.
