* Israel foiled an attempt by two suspected Palestinian terrorists to swim from Egypt into the Gaza Strip. Navy vessels spotted the two swimmers early Thursday in a sea route that has seen recent arms-smuggling to Palestinian terrorists in Gaza. When the swimmers ignored calls to stop and warning shots, they were fired at. One was hit and presumed lost at sea, while the other made it to shore. Israeli security sources said he was believed to be in the custody of Palestinian Authority police.
