Mrs. Golda Meir, Israel’s Foreign Minister, today paid high tribute to the retired American Secretary of State, John Foster Dulles, expressing regret over his resignation and over the state of his health which motivated his quitting his post.
Mrs. Meir made her statement in a conference with William Baxter, American charge d’affaires here, with whom she reviewed the general situation in the Middle East. They discussed economic matters now the subject of talks between the two governments, with American grants-in-aid to Israel a central topic.
In her comments on Mr. Dulles. Mrs. Meier paid tribute to his “historic contribution toward international statesmanship, and his exceptional grasp of the problems affecting the Middle East and Israel.”
