A vast housing construction program for the scores of thousands of new immigrants arriving in Israel from all parts of the world was announced here today by the Israel Government.
Work on 500 housing units in the Bayith Vegan area will begin this week while ##a tent camp for 250 newly-arrived families will bet at Afuleh where the immigrants will reside during the summer while they help crect their own permanent homes.
A new 700-house project for Israel war veterans and recent immigrants is under construction near Petach Tikvah. It will be organized on the “neighborhood unit” principle and will include schools, a business area and gardens. Hundreds of construction workers are being employed on this project.
A new five-mile road is being built between Migdal Gad and its “development area” on the seashore. Other projects now under way include erection of a waterpipe factory and the planting of 100,000 acacia and tamarisk saplings in the sand dunes near Caesarea.
