An order published in the Official Gazette prohibits all news media in Israel to disseminate any information about immigration unless it. appears in an official communique or is released by the Prime Minister. The Gazette invoked the State Secrets Law to make the ban effective.
The new order is aimed to prevent publication of immigration reports by any source, even by the Jewish Agency, that are deemed as endangering immigration. This is the first time the Government has employed the State Secrets Law on this subject.
