The Israel Government expects to balance its budget this fiscal year. Pinchas Saphir, director general of the Finance Ministry announced today. Mr. Saphir said that for the first nine months of the year, income has come up to the level of estimates in all categories.
Mr. Saphir revealed that the government is considering transferring its subsidies for foodstuffs, medical supplies and fuel to the regular budget rather than to separate agencies. Thus, he stated, the “hidden subsidies” will become known and the public will be better informed of how much the government spends to maintain the cost of living at its present 4 vel.
